As an individual, learning new skills, especially in the digital era can be daunting. I see this experience as a stepping stone to my career in freelance. Whenever in need to unwind, I always remember to come back to my traditional techniques using acrylic paint and watercolour pad. As an Indonesian, I take pride in my culture. One of my top art skills is creating batik.
Batik is a traditional Indonesian textile art where patterns are created by applying wax to fabric before dyeing. Batik artworks have unique motifs, whether it's clouds or flowers, there is always a sense of distinctiveness within the patterns.
Tehbotol Sosro® is a high established beverage company in Indonesia. This year they held a national competition for artists with creative ambition.
This is my submission to their brief.
"Karya ini terinspirasi dari kisah Pandawara Group dan inisiatif mulia mereka dalam membersihkan sungai serta berbagai daerah di Indonesia. Judul ini mencerminkan semangat dan kepedulian generasi muda Indonesia yang berkontribusi nyata bagi negeri. Dengan elemen botol plastik, karya ini menggambarkan salah satu daerah yang telah mereka bantu bersihkan, yaitu Pantai Teluk. Nama Alir dan Segara, yang berasal dari bahasa Sanskerta, melambangkan aliran kebaikan yang terus mengalir di perairan, mencerminkan harapan untuk lingkungan yang lebih bersih dan lestari."

This artwork is inspired by the story of Pandawara Group and their noble initiative to clean rivers and various areas in Indonesia. The title reflects the spirit and dedication of the young generation of Indonesia in making a real contribution to the nation. Featuring plastic bottle elements, this piece represents one of the areas they have helped clean—Pantai Teluk. The names Alir and Segara, derived from Sanskrit, symbolize the continuous flow of goodness in the waters, embodying hope for a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
